I mean, this watch is great. There are folks (haters some might even call them) who will always consider the Aquanaut a watered-down link Nautilus. Everyone is allowed to think what they want. I'm link not the boss of anyone (except a few Hodinkee editors) but link to them I would say, "hey man, loosen up, you're missing out on a big bold world of Aquanauts, and the 5065A in particular."
The watch we have today is an Autavia ref. 2446C that's signed "Abercrombie & Fitch Co." above the 12-hour sub-dial at six o'clock. This little detail really sets it apart from other compressor-style Autavias. The watch itself link is in overall very nice and honest condition – I love to see watches that were actually worn and link loved. This also includes a new case design from Murphy, made of 316L stainless steel and link measuring 39x11.3mm link (10mm at case), and 48mm lug-to-lug. The case is nicely constructed, mostly brushed but with polished lug bevels and a polished bezel. The lugs are downturned link a bit to make the case more wearable. I'm not saying it wears thick, but if the 1870 CE were a bit thinner, it'd truly stand out as a thin and elegant dress watch.
True to the collection's aesthetic signature, this case combines two light and robust materials link in two link different colors: white gold for the bezel, horns and back, and black ceramic for the case link middle and crown.
