Coming off the Cinco de Mayo holiday, country singer Kailey Nicole shakes things up with latest release “Casamigos” - out now. The breezy tune, best paired with salt and a lime, premiered exclusively with The Boot who praised the "breezy, summery melody accompanied by an acoustic guitar, steel guitar, guiro, and other percussive instruments." The latest concoction, penned by Nicole with Kylie Hughes, reminisces on the highs of a tequila fueled night. Listen to “Casamigos” HERE.
“When I walked into my write with Kylie Hughes, I said, ‘what if we wrote a love song to Casamigos?’ We hit the ground running from there,” Nicole shares with The Boot. “As the song says, I had a few too many times going out with the wrong kind of kinds...if you know what I mean. But Casamigos is my tried and true so that's where the inspiration came from. We wrote this one last July with all the summer vibes and I have been patiently waiting for the warm weather to return to release this one!”
The summertime jam follows “power-ballad” (Country Evolution) “She Gone,” and romantic ode “Two Of A Kind,” which is backed by a playful melody that’s reminiscent of a sixties era country jukebox classic showcasing Nicole’s soulful vocals and unique sound. She also recently released “Tell Me,” which displays her raw and vulnerable lyrics about wondering if someone she loves loves her back - and all the emotions that come with it. Written by Nicole with award-winning producer Mikel Blue (Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, OneRepublic) and esteemed writer Brett Pemberton, the singer took sonic inspiration from the timeless country ballads she grew up listening to.
Prior releases “One More Time” and “Aim A Little Higher” which American Songwriter praised for its “cheekiness and charm.” Nicole made the move to Nashville at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but made the most of her time in lockdown, writing, recording and honing in on her songwriting. Poised and ready to release a slew of forthcoming singles inspired by those country greats that have come before her, there is no slowing down ahead for the rising talent.
About Kailey Nicole
Since childhood, the answer to country up-and-comer Kailey Nicole’s vocational line of questioning has always been music - and, upon listening, it should come as no surprise. An old soul, there’s a timeless elegance to her voice that pairs perfectly with a throwback sound many try to create but can’t quite emulate. Originally from Las Vegas and affectionately dubbed the “human karaoke system” by her older brother, Kailey took to the stage from an early age, using a butcher block in her family’s kitchen as a platform to perform for guests at her parents’ occasional dinner parties. Hoping to appease her constant begging for voice lessons, Kailey’s mom put her in the church choir, where her love for music continued to grow. But it was an open call audition for the American Girl store in Los Angeles that set the wheels for a career in entertainment in motion when she was cast in the store’s variety show. During the lulls in auditions and acting jobs, Kailey started dabbling in songwriting at the encouragement of a friend. Kailey began collaborating with others, co-writing and recording a short EP. For college, she enrolled in the University of Southern California music business program, hoping to glean some understanding of the music industry at large - and what her future in it looked like. An internship her sophomore year offered clarity, when she found herself focused more on her career as an artist, and less on the work she was there to be doing. With a renewed confidence in her life’s calling, Kailey tapped into every resource L.A. offered, recording and releasing a new EP. She made the move to Nashville at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but made the most of her time in lockdown, writing, recording and honing in on her songwriting. Poised and ready to release a slew of forthcoming singles inspired by those country greats that have come before her.
