Five years since his debut album Lone Wolf, alternative/rock artist Nick Ryan is back with a vengeance! His sophomore project, Nemesis, is a collection of songs encouraging listeners to take their own control and power back. His newest single called "I Will Not Be Silent" was released in September 2021. "I've dealt with many narcissists in my life and have been a victim of gaslighting," Nick explains. "I wanted to write a song about the importance of such a vital topic."
Please give us a little backstory on your new single “I Will Not Be Silent."
“I Will Not Be Silent” has to do with gaslighting and being taken advantage of. There are people in the industry that want you to play nice and play every move you make like it’s a game. It’s about speaking up when you see injustice or live an injustice.
What was filming a music video like during a pandemic? Did Covid make things more difficult?
It was easy since we were all vaccinated. It only made it harder to make a more complicated video with more people involved, but I’ve been making simple solo videos for so long because it’s hard getting multiple people in a room.
If you could co-write a song with another artist, who would you choose and why?
Sheryl Crow. She’s been one of my favorites since her first album and I’ve followed her career from the beginning. She has great storytelling and melodies and every album sounds different.
What can we expect from you in 2022?
I’ll be releasing the final music videos from “Nemesis” as well as dropping the “Unplugged” album and videos. I also may be releasing songs from my third studio album, but I haven’t decided yet! Oh, and there will be my third annual Summer of Covers series. Stay tuned!
