Review: It May Be "Raining in Paris" But the Sun is Shining on Marta Palombo

If Joni Mitchell and Florence + The Machine had a 21st century hippie daughter, it would be Marta Palombo. This may be one of the greatest starts to an artist's bio that we've read and we just had to learn more about Pop/Folk artist Marta Palombo.

Originally from Florence, Italy, Marta found her way to Nashville through poetry. While growing up in Georgia, she entered and won several different contests, before directing her talents to songwriting at Belmont University. She has already made quite a name for herself in Music City — she’s played at well-known venues like Café CoCo, True Music Room & Bar, Commodore Grille, Bowery Vault, Two Old Hippies, Boulevard Records, Just Love Coffee and Belcourt Taps. In addition, Marta has added both the Schermerhorn Symphony and Bridgestone Arena, where she sang back-up for Josh Groban, to her musical resume.

After a short break, Marta hit the ground running in 2020 with her EP, Him Vol. 1. The title track, “Him," received international acclaim and won the Vox Pop Award at the 18th Independent Music Awards. As the events of 2020 came to a head, Marta spent her newfound isolation writing a breathtaking series of reflective songs titled “The Quarantine Tapes,” which she released in 2021. To add some levity to 2022, she recently released her newest single "Raining In Paris."

They walk by in their carefully choreographed rosy mood, wonder how many people wish they could be loved by you...

Marta's musical gift really shines through the entirety of "Raining in Paris." The lyricism is pure magic, transporting the listener into their own romantic film. Marta's enchanting, picturesque storytelling is much like Taylor Swift's, while her delicate, yet powerful, ghost-like harmonies remind us of Lana Del Rey. Although today's modern world has made love seem transactional, "Raining in Paris" leaves us feeling hopeful and pure.

Now it's raining in Paris and I could be kissing you...

It's safe to say we are huge fans of Marta Palombo now and we can't wait to see what other gorgeous showpieces she comes out with next. You can keep up with her latest news by visiting her website and connecting with Marta on Instagram and Facebook.
