Singer-songwriter Sam Ferrara has released her new single, “Second Place,” a vulnerable confession about feeling overlooked in love and life, and the resilience it takes to move forward.
Built on modern country storytelling, “Second Place” confronts the quiet weight of comparison, self-doubt, and unmet expectations. With unfiltered lyrics and a soaring chorus, Ferrara captures the challenge of offering yourself compassion while measuring your path against others.Both introspective and empowering, “Second Place” captures the push and pull of doubt and determination.
With lines like “It’s hard to give myself grace/ When I always come in second place,” Ferrara transforms vulnerability into strength, closing the song with the declaration: “But I know I’m more than second place.”“This song is an origin story for me, but also a coming-of-age story for anyone who has ever lived in the shadows,” Ferrara shares. “It’s a reminder that no matter who you are, you are enough.”

Long Island’s own Sam Ferrara is fearlessly bringing her New York roots into her love for country music. Immersed in music from a young age, Sam adds a modern twist, blending elements from multiple genres and even incorporating saxophone to create her own fun and entertaining style of modern country. Her sound is starting to draw comparisons to artists such as Brandy Clark, Carrie Underwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Megan Moroney, Trisha Yearwood, and so many other artists who have inspired an entire generation.
As someone who has always had the drive and passion for music, Sam has made music a significant part of her life from performing to teaching the future generation. While in the classroom, Sam also pursued her love of storytelling through songwriting, bringing her to Nashville in 2017 and life has never been the same since.
Coming off of her 5-time Josie Award Nominated album Piece of Me, Sam feels this next chapter of music is going to be music that will have her connecting with her audience and give the world something to talk about. Sam’s award nominated song 'I Need a New Fix' helped set the bar for this next chapter, telling real life stories that happen within our big world or and even our small hometowns. Sam’s EP Small Town the EP with Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Leigh will arrive in summer 2026.
