Former KPMG Partner, State of Tennessee Commissioner of Revenue, And Nashville Wine Auction Board Chair to Start New Role Jan. 2022
Loren Chumley has been named by the Nashville Wine Auction’s board of directors as the non-profit organization’s next president/CEO. Chumley will succeed Holly Hearn Whaley who will retire as president/CEO in mid-November after serving for more than ten years. Chumley will officially begin her tenure in January 2022.
Chumley is widely known in business circles as a dynamic, strategic advisor and tax attorney who most recently held the position of Partner at KPMG, and prior to that was Commissioner of Revenue for the State of Tennessee in the Bredesen Administration. She is also well known in the non-profit community, having served on many boards such as Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, Renewal House, Nashville Wine Auction, and in many organizations such as International Women’s Forum, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and more.
After decades working in leadership positions in the private and public sectors, Chumley is eager to take on the role of heading up the country’s longest-running charity wine auction. The Nashville Wine Auction’s mission is to unite the wine community to fund the fight against cancer, and Chumley has been a passionate supporter of this mission for many years.

Chumley served on the Nashville Wine Auction board of directors for six years, was chair of the board, and co-chair of both l’Eté du Vin and Pairings. She and her husband frequently have opened their home for fundraising wine dinners and have been top bidders at the auction for several years.
Chumley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and her JD from American University Washington College of Law. She is a Bar-admitted attorney in the state of Tennessee. A self-described fearless traveler, she and her husband Scott Peterson reside in Nashville.
