ASHEVILLE, NC - Award-winning and Billboard-charting artist Flamy Grant is a shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen from Asheville, North Carolina who continues to take on the evangelical establishment with her latest release “Last Days” featuring Chris Housman, out on July 12. The single, “a much needed reminder and message of hope,” is premiering today exclusively at The Honey Pop.
The track addresses the firestorm that launched Flamy Grant’s debut album Bible Belt Baby to the top of the iTunes Christian music charts. In July 2023, Flamy drew ire from worship leader Sean Feucht as he declared that it was “truly the last days” while posting a picture of Grant with other current and former Christian musicians including Derek Webb, Jennifer Knapp, and Plumb on X, formerly Twitter.
“an empowering country anthem about hatred and bigotry coming to an end… Flamy’s powerful vocals, along with Chris Housman’s shine through in this dynamic track” – The Honey Pop
“If these truly are the last days,” say Grant, “let them be the last days of bigotry, shame, and gatekeeping. I hope ‘Last Days’ will serve as a celebratory rally cry for Christians who are tired of their faith being used to tyrannize and politically persecute the LGBTQ+ community, women, BIPOC folks, and everyone else currently suffering at the hands of evangelicals who have sold their integrity for political power.”
Joining Flamy on the track is rising Nashville country star Chris Housman who lends his signature smooth vocals on this rollicking, raw duet that welcomes an apocalypse of sorts. “I know you’re afraid your supremacy is coming to an end,” he croons over the swampy electric guitars, organ and drums brought together by music director and 2024 Americana Music Association nominee for Best Instrumentalist Megan McCormick.
It is the second single, preceded by the pride anthem “S.P.R.K.L.,” from the forthcoming album CHURCH due September 27th.
ABOUT FLAMY GRANT
It’s no accident that Flamy’s drag name is an homage to Amy Grant, the undisputed queen of Christian music and 90s chart-topping pop artist. Much of Flamy’s music centers on the queer spiritual journey, telling stories of resilience and recovery from religious trauma in a world where LGBTQ+ people are frequently ignored by, harmed in, or ejected from religious spaces. With a bold lip, a big lash, and a blistering voice, Flamy drags audiences to a soulful, uplifting church of her own making.
Flamy’s 2022 debut Bible Belt Baby, garnered international attention when it reached the #1 spot on the iTunes Christian Charts. Her music has over 750,000 streams on Spotify, Apple, and Amazon music. A powerhouse vocalist and intrepid songwriter who blends folk, gospel, and roots, Flamy drags you into a therapeutic, theatrical mix of storytelling and song.
